Course Outline & Objectives

Basel III requires banks to have higher standards of data quality management than previously needed to meet regulatory requirements. Experience from implementing data quality initiatives to meet Solvency II regulation in the insurance industry, has highlighted both the complexity and considerable length of time it takes to implement and embed a Data Governance framework. 

This half day workshop will look at how to develop and embed a data governance framework into your organisation, leaving you in a good position to meet Basel III data requirements, but also to reap the wider benefits of improved efficiency and lower costs. 

Attending this focused half day workshop, will help you:

  1. Establish the key elements of a data governance framework
  2. Devise plans to implement a data governance framework in your organisation
  3. Understand how to embed data deliverables into your business
  4. Benchmark your data governance and data quality framework against developing best practice
  5. Deliver greater business value from your data activities

Training Approach 

This workshop uses a combination of trainer input, knowledge sharing with interactive syndicate work and case studies. Group size is kept to a maximum of 16. 

Workshop Leader: Nicola Askham 

Nicola is an independent data management consultant, whose primary area of expertise is data governance. Nicola has experience in designing and implementing full data governance organisations in both regulatory and non-regulatory environments. She has worked in Data Management for ten years, initially for a leading UK Bank, before becoming a consultant at the beginning of 2009. Most recently Nicola has spent most of her time delivering data governance for Solvency II and also offers data governance coaching. Nicola presents at Data Management Conferences, is a Director and Committee Member of DAMA UK and is on the Expert Panel of
