Building on the success of the inaugural summit, which was held at Guildhall last October and attracted some 440 c-suite delegates from across the financial services industry, this summit in January will provide a thorough analysis of the situation facing the financial services industry as at the start of 2018.

BREXIT will have an enormous impact on the UK financial services industry, arguably more than on any other part of the economy. While most financial institutions now have their contingency plans in place, it is critically important that UK financial institutions keep themselves fully informed about current negotiations and what BREXIT will mean for their organisations under the various possible scenarios.

The thinking behind the summit is that it would be useful to bring together c-suite representatives from all sectors of the financial services industry to hear:

  1. Where the UK Government stands in terms of its preparations for negotiating the transition agreement and an FS Chapter of a longer term Free Trade Agreement with the EU.

  2. The current thinking of the various bodies and working groups that are engaged in developing the industry’s response for individual sectors.

  3. The views of leading figures in the FS industry about the impact of BREXIT on the City, its markets, the services it provides and its competitive position going forward.

We are very pleased that the summit is being organised in association with the City of London Corporation and TheCityUK. A number of the other major trade associations across the City are also supporting.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Current progress and the transition period
  • Mutual recognition - how would an FS Chapter of a Free Trade Agreement work in practice?
  • Continuity of post-trade financial services architecture
  • The EU Withdrawal Bill – Practical implications for the UK financial services industry
  • Global/International Standards – could they form the basis for a coherent global regulatory regime?
  • Trading on WTO rules – what would this mean in detail?
  • Optimising capital and liquidity in post-BREXIT business models
  • Retaining talent and the proposed Immigration Bill
  • End user panel – impact of BREXIT on corporates
